Description

To discover Lviv, the splendid city of western Ukraine, a true jewel of the Carpathians, authentic and modern. The architecture of the old city, in Austro-Hungarian and Polish style with Italian Renaissance influences, is remarkable.

You can stroll through its picturesque little streets, visit the very old Pharmacy museum (1672), the palaces, the ancient churches and the 16th century Olesko Castle.

In addition, you will follow a course in traditional Pysanka craft painting (decorated eggs). And you will travel to the land of the Hutsul mountain people, visit the beautiful city of Kamyanets-Podylskyi, visit the wooden churches listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and have many other experiences.

    Meeting at the modern Danylo Galytskyi airport of Lviv.

    Transfer to a hotel. Installation in the rooms.

    Visit of the city. You will admire the rich architecture of Lviv which reflects almost all the trends of European architecture of the 13th - 18th centuries.

    Breakfast.

    Departure on foot for a guided tour of the old city, with discovery of the medieval district listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

    Visit of the Latin, Armenian and Orthodox Cathedrals and the Assumption Orthodox Church with its Renaissance bell tower, as well as the Korniakta Tower.

    Visit of the Pinzel Museum.

    Lunch at a restaurant.

    Visit of the National Museum, with its rich collections of icons (14th - 17th century), decorative and popular art objects.

    Visit of the Opera and Ballet Theatre of Lviv, one of the most beautiful in Europe. With splendid architecture and interior and exterior decorations.

    Optional: evening at Lviv Opera(reservation required).

    Visit of the History museum located in the former Royal Palace of Jan Sobieski, King of Poland. It is one of the oldest museums in Ukraine.

    Coffee break.

    Lunch at a restaurant in the old medieval Armenian quarter.

    Visit of the Pharmacy museum, including a pharmacy in operation since 1672. Tasting of the museum's magic potion.

    Walk in the small streets of Lviv and coffee tasting in one of the city's renowned restaurants.

    Breakfast.

    Visit of the ethnographic museum in the open air, a charming reconstruction of rural life from the 15th century to the beginning of the 20th century.

    Lunch in a village near Lviv.

    Visit of a typical Ukrainian market with tasting of different varieties of horilka (alcohol) and caviar, with musical accompaniment.

    Back to Lviv.

    Workshop of painting on glass, decoration of eggs (art of pysanka), and weaving.
    Visit of the souvenir and painting market.

    Lviv - YAREMCHE - KOLOMYIA - IVANO FRANKIVSK

    Breakfast.

    Departure by bus to discover the country of the Hutsuls, a Ukrainian mountain population living mainly in the Carpathian mountains.

    In the past, the Hutsulshchyna has attracted the attention of many travellers, writers, artists and researchers.

    Descriptions and stories about the Hutsuls have long held a mixture of fiction and legends. It was in the 17th and 18th centuries that the characteristics attributed to the Hustuls were established.

    The Hutsuls are considered as authentic shepherds, very attached to their mountains, their freedom and their independence. Today, artisanal production is a source of income for most families.

    The region has also been distinguished by the presence of the Opryshky, bandits who appear in folk tales and songs. These criminal gangs looted the nobles and then took refuge in the mountains. Some of their leaders later became legendary heroes.

    Lunch on the banks of the Prut River. You will taste the traditional mountain cuisine of the Hutsuls in a kolyba.

    Visit of the city of Kolomyia.

    Visit of the Hutsul Folk Art Museum and Pysanka Museum (eggs richly decorated by hand).

    Visit the village of Yaremche, famous for its handicraft market.

    Continuation to the towns of Verhovyna and Kryvorivnya.

    Dinner in a local restaurant.

    KHOTYN - KAMYANETS - PODILSKYI - IVANO FRANKIVSK

    Breakfast.

    Excursion to Kamyanets-Podilskyi, a city-museum with a rich history and an incredible architectural heritage, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site

    Lunch at a restaurant.

    Installation at a hotel.

    Visit of the city. From the castle, cobbled alleys lead to the Armenian quarter, which includes several 15th century churches around a 14th century market square. From this square, you can access the Peter and Paul Cathedral through the Triumphal Gate. There is also the Dominican monastery with its large decorated bell tower.

    Boat trip on the Dniester river.

    Transfer to Lviv.

    On the way visit the cities of Rohatyn and Galytch.
